Frequently asked questions

Getting started

  • UnVale is a UK data consultancy. We help businesses reveal what their data is telling them, with products built especially for Shopify and other commerce businesses. Tell us the problem, and we pick the products that fit and build them. That might be duplicate customers, stock that isn’t moving or ad spend nobody can trace.

  • It’s the easy way to start. We spend seven days in your data, then give you a written list of fixes, in the order we would tackle them, and talk you through it. That might be where revenue is leaking, where the data can’t be trusted, or what to tackle first.

  • Tell us the problem and we pick the products that fit. On our home page you can start from a problem, such as “I don’t trust my numbers” or “Stock that isn’t moving”, and see the products that match it. Not sure which fits? That’s what the first conversation is for.

  • Our prices are on request, including for the 7-day Diagnostic. We don’t sell a fixed package: the plan is shaped around your business, and you only buy what fixes your problem. To ask for a price, use the form on our Diagnostic page or email jordan.williams@unvale.co.uk.

  • Use the form on our Diagnostic page: choose Diagnostic to book the 7-day Diagnostic, or General if you just have a question. You can also email jordan.williams@unvale.co.uk. Once your message comes through, we will be in touch personally.

Our products

  • Eighteen products, from quick wins like integrated forms to a seven-day diagnostic, a full data warehouse, dashboards and on-site cameras. They sit in six groups: Quick wins, Diagnose, Build, See, Predict, and Connect the physical world. You only buy what fixes your problem.

  • Yes. We build only what your problem needs, and that might be one product, a few, or the Full Programme. Whether you buy a single dashboard or the Full Programme, the work rests on the same four layers.

  • It’s the end-to-end build, for founders who want the whole build, delivered in four stages. It starts with the 7-day Diagnostic, then a BigQuery warehouse with a Looker Studio command centre, then churn prediction models and automated cross-sell. The last stage is generative AI advisory systems that work from your own data, and dynamic pricing.

  • We bring your shop, ads, email and stock data into one BigQuery warehouse, so every report starts from the same numbers. It’s for founders who don’t trust their numbers, have duplicate customers, or can’t trace their ad spend.

  • Yes, that’s what our Fidelity Layer does. Guest checkouts, old email addresses and typos turn one customer into three, so we match the records that belong together, using probabilistic matching (Python’s Splink) and common sense. Each real person gets one Master Customer ID, so you get a truer count of your customers, and one history for each of them.

  • Yes. We age your stock to find the dead lines, and forecast demand for each product from your own sales history. Our Reorder forecasts give you predicted stock needs for every product, so cash isn’t stuck in slow lines. You get clear reorder numbers, and less money tied up in stock you can’t sell.

  • Yes. We tie each campaign, channel and email to the orders and revenue that followed it, so you can see which spend earns its keep, and which to cut. Anomaly watch adds an alert when sales, refunds or ad spend suddenly jump or drop for no obvious reason.

  • We score every customer 0 to 9 on how recently they bought, how often, and how much they spend, so you can see your “999” Brand Champions and the big spenders who have gone quiet. Churn alerts give you a weekly list of your high-value “999” customers who are starting to drift, each with a suggested win-back. Automated personal emails can go out when a customer goes quiet, written to sound like you rather than a template.

  • Our Dashboards product is a Looker Studio command centre for you, plus live screens for the office or warehouse showing today’s orders, stock alerts and targets. With the Ask-your-data assistant you can ask “who were my best customers last month?” in plain English and get the answer from your own warehouse.

  • Yes, that’s our Connect the physical world group: scanners and cameras that feed your data live. Scan-to-stock updates your inventory the moment goods are scanned with a barcode scanner or a phone, and Pick-and-pack checks scan every order at packing so wrong items are caught before they ship. Shelf and stockroom cameras count stock and spot empty shelves, and Footfall and in-store behaviour uses on-site cameras to count visitors, linked to your sales. Pop-up and market sales capture puts sales from events and markets into the same customer and stock data as your online store.

  • Eight do: Anomaly watch, Churn alerts, Reorder forecasts, the Ask-your-data assistant, Review and support mining, Automated personal emails, Product copy and tagging, and an AI personal assistant. For example, Review and support mining reads your reviews and support tickets and tells you the top complaints and product issues. The AI personal assistant sorts the inbox, drafts replies, sets reminders and looks things up across the tools you already use.

Working with us

  • To understand your business, we need to hear from you first. We start with a conversation: you tell us what’s getting in the way, and we listen and ask about your shop, your stock and your marketing.

  • We build on Google BigQuery, a serverless data warehouse, with Airbyte or Fivetran for automated data loading and dbt for tested, modular SQL. The data science is in Python, using Splink, Prophet and XGBoost, and dashboards are in Looker Studio.
